Director's Office

The Director's Office of Tarka Accord is the highest internal institution within Tarka Accord and was established by the founder as a means of restricting his own power within the organisation.
Rather than having separate legislative and executive bodies, the office's separation of powers comes in the form of the Director and the Director's Council where the Director is the primary decision maker in the institution and the Director's Councillors - being representatives of each of Tarka Accord's national Branches - act as a collective 'judge' that can hold the Director to account.

National Branches

As defined by the Director's Office Constitution, Tarka Accord is formally split into Branches - where one Branch is permitted per sovereign state (country). The two Branches that currently exist are the UK and US Branches. Each Branch is entirely independent from one another directly and mostly independent from the Director's Office.

UK Branch

The US Branch has a formal constitution and internal rules that pertain to: the elections and internal powers of US Director's Councillors and the role of the US Branch Executive within the US Branch (being, a representative of the US Branch whom the Director must have agree on matters that would have a direct effect on the US Branch).

In addition to this, the US Branch also has responsibility over two projects: Scissortail Craftivists (a previously independent art-based activism group who's ownership was transferred to the US Branch of Tarka Accord) and a yet-to-be-named project in the works with the objective to explain Oklahoma's convoluted political system.

The UK Branch is not bound by a rigid constitution and, rather, operates under the de-facto operational control of the Director and who's rules are set by the minimum requirements of the Director's Office constitution - which does still mandate involvement by Director's Councillors over the conduct of the Director. This was previously the way that both Branches were structured before growth in the US Branch mandated a clear constitution be adopted.

Charters and Chapters

Beyond Branches and the Director's Office, Tarka Accord can be divided into chapters and/or charters - these two concepts not being mutually dependent nor exclusive.

  • A chapter is the term used to describe local organisation within the territory of Branches. They can be organised at any size an operate in whatever way they see fit that doesn't conflict with the authority of Branch administration. Although there are members scattered around both the UK and US, the two current chapters that exist are North Devon in the UK and Oklahoma in the US.

  • A charter is a piece of written documentation that both exists for the purpose of outlining internal rules within Tarka Accord aside from Branches and the Director's Office. Chapters, certain projects and social media presences are all likely to have charters that outline their set of rules.
